“Oh Canada!” – President Trump Trolls Trudeau, Jokes About Taking Over Canada After Suggesting Canada Should Become the 51st State if It Can’t Handle Tariffs

“Oh Canada!” – President Trump trolls Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau

President Trump on Tuesday appeared to signal his desire to take Canada as the 51st state in a masterfully clever and humorous barb at Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau over his resistance to Trump’s 25% tariffs on foreign imports.

“Oh Canada!” Trump said on Truth Social with an AI-generated image of him standing next to the would-be 51st state’s flag atop Canada’s mountainous terrain.

As The Gateway Pundit reported, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau traveled to the United States to meet with Trump at his Mar-A-Lago estate in West Palm Beach on Friday amidst Trump’s decision to impose a 25% tariff on all products from Canada and Mexico in response to the “illegal alien invasion.”

“On January 20th, as one of my many first Executive Orders, I will sign all necessary documents to charge Mexico and Canada a 25% Tariff on ALL products coming into the United States, and its ridiculous Open Borders. This Tariff will remain in effect until such time as Drugs, in particular Fentanyl, and all Illegal Aliens stop this Invasion of our Country!” Trump said on Truth Social on Monday.

This caused Trudeau to board a plane to Florida for a face-to-face discussion, which Trump later described as “productive.”

According to Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy, Trump humorously suggested that if Canada cannot sustain its economy without what he claimed was a $100 billion annual exploitation of the U.S., perhaps it should consider becoming the 51st state.

“We’re told that when Trudeau told President-elect Trump that new tariffs would kill the Canadian economy, Trump joked to him that if Canada can’t survive without ripping off the U.S. to the tune of $100 billion per year, then maybe Canada should become the 51st state, and Trudeau can become its governor,” said Doocey.

Trudeau and his Cabinet have reportedly shrugged off Trump's comments as "teasing."

Still, who knows how far Trump will take this "joke" if Canada resists his demands and tries to rip the United States off?
